Why Did Apple Discontinue HomePod?

Apple has discontinued the original HomePod, the company’s flagship smart speaker. Although the product struggled to find an audience, the company has said that the new HomePod mini will replace it. The new speaker is expected to be announced at an upcoming Apple event. But why did Apple decide to discontinue the original HomePod?

Despite the lackluster performance of the original HomePod, there’s a chance that the new model will offer several improvements over its predecessor. Some experts expect Apple to add Bluetooth streaming, stronger voice assistant features, and possibly even lower the price. Apple’s decision to discontinue the HomePod could be the result of a change in direction.

The original HomePod was released in 2018 for $349, but it never captured the mass market. This was partly due to its expensive price and limited capabilities. It wasn’t until the HomePod mini launched last November that the speaker really captured the public’s imagination. The smaller model is cheaper, which could have helped sell more units.
