Will the Galaxy Note 9 Get Android 11?

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 launched with Android 8.1 Oreo, but if you want to upgrade to Android 11, you can use AOSP Android 11 to do it. Google released Android 11 for the public and many OEMs quickly adopted it. Since the release of Android 11, Google has released the AOSP source code, which can be used to create custom ROMs for the Galaxy Note 9.

As of this writing, the Galaxy Note 9 does not appear on the list of devices that will receive Android 11. This means that it will not be able to receive the One UI flavored version of Android 11. The only way to update your phone is to manually download the update from the Samsung website. You can do this by double tapping an empty Home screen, and you can find it under Advanced features. In this way, you can update your device yourself when it’s ready.

The Note 9’s support has been cut short as a result of Samsung’s recent policy change. While the Note 9 will receive monthly updates until August 2021, it won’t get Android 11. However, the device is capable of running Android 11 and is already compatible with March 2021’s security patch. As long as you don’t use your Note 9 as a GPS, you should be okay.

Will the Note 9 Be Getting Android 11?

Until now, it has been unclear if Samsung plans to bring Android 11 to the Galaxy Note 9, despite it being capable of running the latest OS. Samsung is expected to gradually roll out Android 11 to its Galaxy Note 10 Lite, but this update will not come to the Galaxy Note 9. This means users stuck with Android 10 will have to seek alternate solutions. If you’re worried that Android 11 won’t come to the Galaxy Note 9, you can always try installing a “Noble ROM” on your Galaxy S9.

In the meantime, the Galaxy Note 9 will receive monthly security patches. Those updates will stop in August 2021, but the device will still receive some support. The March 2021 security patch is still available for Galaxy Note 9, but it will only cover the previous year’s updates. Once this cycle runs out, owners will be stuck with Android 10.
