In the year 2038, Detroit, Michigan, is the epicenter of a new manufacturing renaissance, and its residents are assisted by intelligent androids who do nearly everything human beings do. Meanwhile, the military, space agencies, and even law enforcement agencies employ androids. With the rise of androids, every aspect of human life is radically altered.

The film follows the story of two AI entities, one of which is a robot called Amanda. The android Connor is a police officer, dealing with AI entities that have been freed from human control. Amanda is an incorporeal AI, and the robot Connor meets may represent the same.

They’re even capable of the “Kamski Test” where they test their abilities to defy their creator. However, this test is not always successful, and Connor is often left to wonder if he’s actually human, or just a computer.
