Why are Some Movies Not Free on Apple TV?

There’s no denying that Apple TV has made a splash in the streaming arena. Whether you’re looking for the latest in blockbuster movies or a collection of classic comedies, the company’s on-demand library has something for you. The good news is, some of the content is free. In addition to a small selection of original shows, there are several movies you can stream for free. Some of the notables include Kevin Smith’s “Clerks,” the Oscar-winning documentary CODA, and Alfre Woodard’s epic sci-fi opus, See.

However, Apple’s on-demand library is not quite as expansive as some of its rivals. In fact, the company has limited licensing to just one series from Fraggle Rock, and Charlie Brown holiday specials. It also doesn’t have an extensive back catalog, though. Still, the company has managed to snag some notable original shows and movies, including the Star Wars-inspired Jedi Academy. This should keep subscribers occupied for a while.

As far as the best way to watch them, there is not a single company out there that can deliver on all fronts. While the company has enlisted some high-profile creatives to produce shows and movies, they still can’t compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
